The discreet shift to the right – right-wing populism in Denmark

The population of Denmark is famous for its openness and tolerance
throughout the world. On the other hand that these ideas about the
Danish society have not much in common with reality, only a few know. In
the last 20 years the atmosphere in the country enormously shifted to
the right.
Right-wing populism is not a marginal phenomenon anymore, but an
accepted part of the political and social center. The sharp cultural
racism and the discriminatory baiting of the Danish People’s Party
against migrants are covered by the freedom to express one’s own opinion
and are accepted as a contribution to the political debate also in large
parts of other parties and political organizations.

The lecture will put the main stress to the social requirements that
have made possible such a huge shift to the right in Denmark and will
also have a look whether the right populists of the DVP succeeded to
become a completely normal political force. The handling of the Danish
Antifa and other groups of the extra-parliamentary left with the DVP and
the subsequent shift to the right will be subject.

with right-wing populism in the Scandinavian countries.
